Flat base snare stand to hold 16" in diameter snare?

Loading...

Hey Guys,

Just bought a PDP 14x7.5" snare with the wood hoops. I had read the wood hoops made the drum large enough that it would not fit in the baskets of most snare stands. I have now confirmed this to be true! The wood hoops are 16" in diameter.

Thought out of the half-dozen stands I have, one of them would fit but that is not the case.

This hopefully gives me an excuse to get a flat base stand I've been wanting.

The issue is I'm not sure which will fit. I would like one that has a sliding arm on the basket which would make it easier to swap other sized snares but that is not necessary.

Anyone know which flat base stands will fit 16" in diameter? maybe have a sliding arm? New or vintage?

Thanks!

I haven't come across a snare stand with a tightening, claw basket that can open wide enough to accommodate a 16" snare, but there must be one out there. To mount a 16" parade snare, I use the old reliable, 3-arm Ludwig flat base stand...

You can easily find used Ludwig and WFL models for about $20, and they do the job just fine.

Thanks Mike. That is what I figured.

Will look to the local Craigslist.
