I had a bunch of cymbals (all top of the line) and no one seemed interested on the forums, so I put up my first auction I ever did on ebay. I posted my 2002 22" crash and it sold in 2 days for $250, which is higher that what I was asking on the forums, sorry I waited so long to try e bay, now I know why its so popular. when I get back from vacation all my sigatures are going up next. This is a no brainer for selling gear.
First e bay sale!!!!

...until you you pay all the fees...that's why we all b itch about it. I am glad you made your money back, but when you get hit with about 16% fees, it's not gonna look so nice.
Please don't hate me. I just tell it like is.

I must disagree with all the b!tching about eBay. I lump that negativity in with all the negative attitudes expressed about other category leaders (or category killers) such as Walmart, Guitar Center, Levi jeans, Remo, McDonalds, AOL, and on and on. If you don't want to patronize a leading brand of product or a leading merchant, don't patronize them. But, they did not attain their market position for nothing. Obvoiusly, millions of other people spend their money with these merchants and for those brands. I know for a fact that people who b!tch about some of the names I mentioned still patronize those names. I have seen countless people in music stores speaking badly about Guitar Center. Within a few hours, I have seen the same people in GC b!tching about the other stores. And..........they end up buying from GC. I have also seen the reverse. Any time one of my independently owned music store customers started to rag about GC to me, I immediately would tell them that I express no opinions about GC. But, he (the complaining person) must know that the customer dissing GC to you is also telling the GC that your store sucks. Those customers are playing you and the salespeople in the other stores to try to get a better price. But, back to the main issue. If you can do better than eBay for selling your items, go for it. Obviously, many other people will weigh the mass exposure against paying some fees. Personally, I like shopping on eBay. I have never attempted to sell anything there. I know many merchants with brick and mortar stores who bring much more revenue into their business with eBay sales. Some of these merchants keep their physical locations for the occasional walk in customer, but mainly for warehousing their eBay inventory.
Ebay can be good, ebay can be bad. I hate the fees, but for the most part- you can get rid of something and get your money. I've been slaughtered on a few sales, but I also have made up for the bad sales with ridiculous sales (i.e. people getting auction fever). In the end, ebay is what it is, and while I try and sell on forums, nine times out of ten I end up selling it on ebay.

Love to shop.... selling can be challenging in several ways.
