Thanks for the info...I`ve used tung oil in the past, but, never with clear...That`s why I put the question mark after the sentence...The OP wants a durable finish, so, I thought I would suggest clear coat after treating with tung oil...I now know they are not compatible...Cheers

But Tung oil may be burnished and or waxed/polished... Just, as said by others, not clear lacquered. Same goes for any other of the oil finishes (Scandinavian, Linseed,etc etc).

Here is the drum dry after the 3rd coat of varnish. I'm going to try and get a better pic later. I'm just excited to finally have it complete.
