Finished Green Glass Glitter "project" Last viewed: 14 hours ago

I always wanted a kit in Green Glass Glitter ever since I saw how stunning that particular wrap looked on a Leedy & Ludwig snare I had done over at Precision Drum.

Some time ago I picked up a 1970 Slingerland 22" bass drum in natural maple. A short time later I purchased two Slingerland shells from the 60s (9x13 & 16x16) with their original hardware minus the respective badges. The original wraps on these had already been removed.

I decided to put together a player's kit with the individual pieces since I already had a Slingerland Dynamo hi-hat as well as three matching Slingerland cymbal stands thanks to TommyP.

I removed the heads, rims and all the original hardware from the tom shells, purchased two Slingerland badges off of e-Bay, and shipped the shells with the badges out to Precision Drum to have them wrapped in Green Glass Glitter. While I was waiting for the toms to be wrapped I installed Green Glass Glitter in-lays on the bass drum hoops. Because I happen to like kits that are somewhat different or "unique" I decided to keep the bass drum in its natural (unwrapped) finish. The attached pics show the end result of my efforts. I completed the kit with my Leedy & Ludwig snare and am very satisfied with the results. The kit sounds great, too!

Just thought I'd share my latest project with some fellow forum members.

THANKS for looking!

Great lookin kit. I don't know if I could wrap that bass drum either the finish looks so nice. Would you ever consider a custom front bass head with a faux green glass glitter paint job.... that might look cool and tie it together with the hoops and all. Just my 2 cents.

Cool kit, my friend...

I like those BR stands too.... you have the ones with the wider footprint than mine. You can see the drums so much better with stands like those !!

So you had only the FT and Ride wrapped by Precision, or the Leedy snare as well? Could I ask how much that costs nowadays?

Thanks..

If you go the route I did ... well over $500 ... for one drum and three edges. I gotta kiss, though.

Love that wrap! I'd love to see the kit with the BD wrapped, though (just my opinion). Well done.

I love green glitter, too. Those inlays work! I was imagining a wood snare with a green glitter inlay through the middle, or even a center inlay on the bass drum.

I am digging the irony between the throne and the cushy couch.

Spectacular! Well done.

Great photos too.

I also like how you left the BD natural & then installed the green inlay....nice touch.
