Finally pulled the trigger: 60's Walberg & Auge kit
Thanks all!
Great to read that these are really well built & unique drums.
Yes, I purchased these from W&W Drumshop in MA. They have some really cool vintage kits up but I was watching this particular kit for quite some time. I really enjoy owning kits that are one offs. I was told the hardware on FT is indeed from 40's but the drum is actually from 60's like rest of kit hence why it matches color wise. I''m going to make these babies shine. Will post pics when all done and trying to find history on the kit as well & date stamps. They are shipping today to CA. Fingers crossed. Thanks all for the kind words. Much appreciated.
Those are really nice! I never knew the company existed until Johns Big Blue popped up. They certainly look like quality made drums and some of those wraps are just plain gorgeous. Would love to play a set someday! Enjoy your new purchase and thanks for showing them to us!
Thank you!

Gorgeous ! They throw off a cool vintage vibe. Can't wait to see them after you get them all shined up.
Most 1960s W&A "Profection" kits were made either with Rogers Keller shells or Gretsch Jasper 6ply shells or both. However most W&A kits were Jasper shells so basically you were hearing and playing a 6ply RB Gretsch kit. Most W&A kits had a variety of different lugs installed but mainly Rogers or Gretsch to include t-rods/claws.
Also most of the time the W&A floor tom would be made slightly longer tubes than normal i.e. 14" head x 17" depth or 16"x17", etc... and nearly most floor toms had Ludwig clubdate legs and mounts.
Rims were also a variety and could be Ludwig, Gretsch, Slingerland or Rogers.
One thing cool about W&A "Perfection" kits is that you never know what you might get... which makes them unique and SPECIAL.
I'd be very interested to know how W&A priced their sets back then versus the main brands. Anyone ever seen a catalog or price list?

I'd love to know as well. As you can see in pics, the hardware on the bd & toms is Gretsch. I was told the bass drum and two tom toms consist of Jasper shells with Gretsch lugs. The floor tom consists of Rocket lugs and slingerland radioking single flange hoops. I just love the look of this kit. Have no idea what to expect sound wise but if it sounds anything like this other Gretsch kit I have, I'll be happy.
What a beautiful kit! I love it!!!
Everything about it is just so cool! I love the BR initials on the head (good omen, same as Buddy Rich). I also love that triangle at the top of the bass drum head. I know this is goofy, but I used to have one of those Tudor Electric Football games (with the metal "playing field" that vibrated and moved the players around), and both end zones were painted blue with orange-ish red triangles in them, and that's exactly what it reminded of when I saw it. You gotta leave that thing on there!
That kit is going to turn even non-drummer's heads. Just sensational!!
Very cool kit Mark......congrats! Yes Sir
