Finally Got A Craigslist Score That I Usually Only Read About On This Forum!

I haven't taken them apart to examine them yet, but I'm hoping I can just replace the threaded insert with a modern one, and then use a modern tension rod. When it comes to tension rods, I don't care if they are original or not; I just want them to work.

I have plenty of extra inserts and tension rods of all lengths, so I'm hoping what I already have will work.

I have only tried that once on a red sparkle orphan assembled kit

I had no rods for the bass drum so I replaced the swivel nuts

with others for which I had the corresponding T rods

The replaced swivel nuts were somewhat ill fitting

But the drum did tension up okay and outwardly looked just fine

Kenwood, that's the same wrap as on my set (incomplete restore). It's gorgeous and really catches the light.

Vyachelev - This is a great score! I can vouch for sean as he is a straight-shooter and upfront and packs his stuff wonderfully. A pleasure to deal with.

I was looking for that part you mentioned. I found it nigh impossible to obtain without getting the whole muffler assembly. I have given up for now as mine is 1/2 there and still works. I also obtained a new one from Gibralter that is nearly identical but smoother than the original. If I ever build that snare I want to it will go on it.

You'll find what you need locally (in the USA that is) if you're patient and are not in a hurry to get the kit complete. I wasn't in a hurry and basically had health issues and everything just stopped for awhile. I fired up the project again and there was sean coming through with what I needed to complete. Now that it has warmed up around here I can repaint my interiors and get the thing re-assembled.

You have scored a real bargain and I must congratulate you. The god's of the Asian drums of the past have indeed graced your basement. Have fun!

Hello shortyedwards,

I sure agree

The satin flame wraps are super cool the way they reflect the lighting

Best of luck with completing yours

I'm a big fan of the Sonor copy lugs. While I do see a lot of satin swirl wraps with those lugs, I think the Onyx or Agate wraps look pretty bad ass too with the Sonor lugs, as evidenced by a kit I had for many many years.

These were mint and 3 ply but I could never tune them right. There were too many drums in the house at the time so I sold them. Duh. I almost cried when the guy drove away with the bass drum staring at me out the back window.

Oh Man!! that was an awesome kit you had there surfcollector

I sure would love to some day finally find a floor tom in that color

to match up with my three Majestic drums they have the Slingerland clone lugs

and the batter side lugs are offset from the resonant side as is the case with most of the Majestic deluxe kits

I would be happy as all get out with any size floor tom

with any lug style, offset drilled or not, or even just a stripped shell

just as long as it was the same school bus yellow/orange and has the separate lugs for each head

I must admit like kenwood and shortyedwards the wrap looks so striking. Im not big on what the wrap companies in the USA are up to these days. Can none of the companies produce that wrap these days. Kenwood if i ever see a floor tom like that over here in the UK ill grab it for you.
