I was just curious to know if the hoops they used on marching bass drums are the same as the hoops they use on regular drum set bass drums. Any words of wisdom?

Vintage drum set basses and vintage marching drums from the same manufacturers generally used the same hoops. (They often shared shell construction, lugs, claws, and a bunch of other stuff, too.)
Other than Mapex, most marching drum makers nowadays use maple ply hoops for their marching drums that are functionally similar but usually not as cosmetically nice as their drum set counterparts.

Some bass hoops won't have inlays............
Smooth, with no channel for the inlay
