Actually not at all. Probably about the same weight (if not a little lighter) than vistalites.

To address the quality issues, I'm really happy with the edges - pretty smooth. However, the interiors..you can tell their QA wasn't where it should be. Pretty ugly - probably explains why they painted the insides of these black. With that being said, these are some of the best sounding drums I've owned. They project without being overpowering, but also sound warm and fat. I'm very happy with them.

Chris!

The CFMartin era Fibes, as yours are here, are so much NICER on the interiors than the early 1st generation Fibes! I have owned both, and the CFMartin's with their black painted interiors are way smoother with much cleaner bearing edges than 1st generation shells, as those were ALL hand laid and resin applied fiberglass. If you A/B'd the two generations side by side you could see the difference immediately. CFMartin applied the black paint not so much to mask the fiberglass, but to make them look more aesthetically pleasing and a tad more modern. There might have been some sonic implications too, but that would be the least of the reasons. The metal wraps are of course REAL, and that is part of what gives the Fibes shells a bit of their character sound. I was able to compare Fibes to Blaemire as I have them both .. ( snare drums ) .. and there is a difference! Anyway, after the Fibes COF, I love the Antique Brass .. and .. I have the 14X24, but the 14X26 must be god like!
