Fibes Crystalite Double Forte

Loading...

A rare and hard to get 'cockpit' view of my Fibes set up. Almost everything I use is in the picture. On the left is a percussion tree with a Conga cowbell. (The Mambo cowbell and tambourine is not yet mounted.)

Cymbal set up from my left is 16" Paiste 2002 medium, Paiste 2002 20" China, 15" Paiste 2002 Sound Edge hi-hats, 17" Sabian AA Medium Crash, 12" Sabian AAX Splash, 14" Meinl Soundcaster sound edge hi-hats, 19" Paiste 2002 Rock Crash, 18" Paiste 2002 Medium, 20" Paiste 2002 Ride, 21" Paiste 2002 Medium, 19" Sabian Holey China, 17" Paiste 2002 Wild Crash.

Drum set up: Two 14" x 24" Bass drums, 5 1/2 x 14" COF 'Buddy Rich' snare drum. From my left: 10 x 14" TT, 10 x 10", 10 x 12" high toms, 9 x 13", 10 x 14" rack toms, 16" x 16", 16 x 18" Floor toms.

A stunning array of percussion. I can't imagine being able to reach and play a set that large. Amazing!

Thanks everybody for your fine comments. The kit is huge, but is surprisingly easy to play. I take it into 3 'zones', what's in front, what's to the left and what's to the right.

Having a big selection of cymbals means there's always a comfortable landing spot for your left hand or right hand no matter where you are on the kit.

Having the far left tom tom (or FT) and the second set of Hi-hats on the right also makes it easier to move around without having to twist your whole body around to finish a fill on a favourite crash or low tom.

I got away from double bass but that looks like a fun kit to play!

My blue kit was originally 8-10 over the hats, 12-13-15 rack and 16-18 floor. Two 22"kicks. When I set it up these days ( not often) I have one kick with a double pedal (a lot easier to move) either 22 or a deep 20. 8-10-12 up, 13-15 down and either the 16 or 18 on the left. I mount everything low to conserve energy.

But my be bop kit has been getting what little time I have these days.
