70 SUPER SOUND KING BOUGHT NEW AT THE NILES PLANT IN 69 WHEN I WAS 17, IF I ONLY KNEW....................FYI, I GREW UP 2 MILES FROM THE PLANT, I LOVED THE SMELL OF DRUMS IN THE MORNING AIR LOLflower
1) 1970's Slingerland blue sparkle
2) Gretsch Frankensnare
3) PDP Ace black nickel-plated brass w/The Rev engraving (I am a minister, after all!!!)
4) Pork Pie Big Black Brass
5) 1958 Slingerland Solid Wood player snare w/Trick strainer
6) 1970's Premier aluminium
7) is in transit, and if nothing else- she'll be the prettiest snare of the bunch!!!!
I love them all for different sounds; however, #2 has a musical ring I could listen to all day, #1 has a dry crack (w/a Genera Dry) I love, #3 sounds so freakin' good, and #4 is the big brother and somehow channels Bonham. #5 will improve drastically with the correct hoop. #6 needs a new strainer, and #7 is one made by our Fungus Amungus and I will judge when she gets to me door.
What to to choose???
-1967 Acrolite for looks and sound both
-1973 Supra 400 same as above
-White Marine Pearl '66 Cleveland Dynasonic ( S***!, I sold it! d'ohh!)
-2006 Craviotto Unlimited Bird's Eye Maple, Diamond inlay, steam bent single ply, wood hoops- for looks and sound both!
-Premier 2000, parallel strainer. Amazing snare!
- 2004 Monroe badge Ludwig Black Beauty, Imperial lugs. Definitely sex on a hoop!
And a few others...

1941 Leedy Broadway 8x14 in the venerable White Marine Pearl. Best drum I have heard--period. I've pretty much have retired it from regular use. I got one of the newer Leedy copies a couple years back. I think they are made by Gretsch? It's a very decent drum on its own, good woody sound, response and similar feel-- a really good fun everyday drum. The 8x14 size is a lot more versitile than many people might think. As nice as the modern "Leedy" is, and it is nice, though-- nothing comes even close to the complexity, intensity, tonality, and plain good 'ol crack than that '41 WMP.
