Thanks guys.

I am thinking about using COB stick choppers.

And I want to use the single ended lugs.

Like this

I like the look better for some reason.

The bridge would just be a nice touch to have it really look like an old RK.

When I get it finished I'll post a pic. D' Drummer

A bridge!!!Does the vintage collector community frown on using vintage parts on a new drum?Does the vintage collector community frown on people making reproductions of old drums?

I didn't know we had a "community." Group Hug

Wherever it is, I'll bet the noise ordinances are pretty permissive.

Lovely shell! How are you going to finish it?

Myself, I would prefer that vintage parts be used to restore vintage drums, but that's what I prefer, has nothing to do with your or anyone else's project.

Aesthetically, I would rather see a new tribute drum built with all new repro parts than one that was a hodgepodge of brand new shell, old throw-off, repro lugs, etc.

I think if you use all new parts, and we are so blessed with such a great selection of reasonably-priced parts, it will look better.

Again, just one person's opinion, and owning an old drum kit and a pile of old snares doesn't trump whatever you want your drum to look like.

However, the vintage collector community does demand that you post photos of the finished (or even in-process) homage.:D

I agree with you 100%

I was thinking a hodgepodge of new and old in the end wouldn't be what I was trying to do.

I don't really like the idea of loading it up with all vintage parts.

That would be crazy.

I would just like to figure out if the bridge setup or something similar was being offered by a new manufacturer.

I haven't seen one with all my browsing.

Maybe I should forget the bridge and just use what I can get from DFD or elsewhere.

As far as finish goes, it currently has 4 coats of Tung Oil on it.

I may wax and polish it but that's all.

I like the natural wood color to show through. :D

I think you should use all new parts. Considering the quality of work that you do there is no doubt in my mind that the drum will be beautiful. Have fun with your new project.

That's pretty slick - a definite cosmetic improvement!...and a set screw on the wire tensioner?

The set screw is factory.

It is just deeply recessed in there.

It has a roller on it that the main shaft rides on.

I put a drop of blue loctite on the screw and it's good to go.

This is what it looks like out of the pack.

These throws look so much better polished. Now all you need is the matching wood cover for the tesion knob.
