Fake vintage cymbals???

WOW. Considering the trouble they went to to fake it, you would have thought they would had spelled Zildjian correctly. Also the Arabic script is, of course, missing altogether and the spacing is so tight there isn't enough room for it anyway. Hope no one buys it. My French is weak, but based on what I was able to understand, this cymbal sounds like a "keeper"! :-)

Obviously fake, and certainly not a very good job. But somebody who didn't know their stuff might fall for it. That's all it takes.

The seller didn't go for a 22" old stamp, which is where you would get the most money. As far as the Zilojian goes, it might just be that the trademark police (such as they are these days) may not be able to spring into instant action because of the misspelling. I'm not really up with the state of play with these matters. Maybe that slows the process down slightly.

Any guesses as to what it was before it was a Zilojian, Mark?

I have to imagine that "faking" a Zildjian, stamp and all would be fairly expensive.

It's amazing how hard some people will work not to find a real job making honest money.

I have no idea, but the thing looks like it was hand hammered! Who knows, it may even sound nice.

Has anyone ever researched zilOjian? Maybe some disgruntled family member ran off and started making cymbals but for fear of trademark infringement changed the D to an O or maybe it's someone who speaks no english and didn't notice the difference between the two. How many of us would know one arabic letter from another?

Or maybe someone screwed up at Zildjian, misprinted, and tried to get rid of these and now they're on the market. Kind of like a 1943 copper penny - a mistake that makes a penny worth 100 grand.

Just my 2 cents!!!! lol
