I just bought a Ludwig Supraphonic 6.5X14 snare off of eBay. After inspecting it I noticed a couple of things that concern and confuse me. First off, there is no tone control on this drum. Yes, that is right, no knob or internal device. Secondly, the badge. It is B/O but has no serial number. I realize that could make it a 70-71' drum, but the badge does not look like any that are pictured here. Below the place where the S/N should be is "Made in USA". I am deeply troubled by the thought that I purchased a fake LM402. Do they exist? What do you think?
Fake Supraphonic
Welcome to the forum. Sorry you've encountered this situation. Truthfully providing photos will get the best results. I'm personally not nearly as well versed in Ludwig drums as some of the other members on here. But I can guarantee that with a few photos of what you have, they'll get to the bottom of things.

It sounds like a late model B-stock LM402.
Hello Postmaster. Nice to meet you. As the others said just stick a photo or 2 and we'll happily help out if we can.

Not sure he is a master of posting - perhaps he hasn't yet figured out how to post a pic. He will eventually I hope - and hope he is not a hit and run......as we all are very intrigued by his (or her) post!

We seem to be getting a rash of new posters who request information based solely on a description. We request pictures to help out, but never hear back from these people. If they don't know how to post pictures, just say so. Lot's of fine folks here more than willing to help out. I guess I'm just a little irritable this morning and just needed to vent this!

Actually Postmaster doesn't necessarily need to post pictures in this case since it is a recent eBay purchase. We just need the item number Postmaster. You can't paste a link directly to the eBay auction (unless somebody has fixed that re-writing code which turns it blank). Just the item number would do.
But yes, in general people get stopped at trying to figure out how to post pictures. Posting pictures here is a complex task for some users. Especially since one would be lucky to find a camera or phone which doesn't produce pictures which are megapixels in size and need to be reduced to be uploaded as attachments. Yes, there is some information on how to do it. But it's daunting until you've done it once or twice.
So do we need to change the site motto from
Ask a question, get an answer
to the more accurate
Ask a question, get a request for pictures, stumble about trying to upload pictures, get discouraged
