Factory Ludwig Blackrolite with Imperial lugs

Loading...

Hi Guys,

I'm a newbie here but a 40 year musician (hammond B-3/Piano Player) and a "closet" drummer.... I play drums for fun,I also have a bunch of Vintage Japanese stuff etc etc at the moment as well.

My question about this drum is I know its a 3-95 or so by the date in the case Black Galaxy Acrolite Or Blacrolite i guess they are called. It has the Usual Ludwig throw off but it has imperial lugs like a supra phonic i had. I notice every picture i EVER see of these drums with this shell, they have Bow tie lugs.

They appear to be factory...... anyone have any insight as to why this one is Imperials? its still a black galaxy shell, so it has to be the blackulite /acrolite right??

Thanks

Earl

Neat drum. I have one just like it and have had two others that now belong to forum members. They are still pretty few and far between though. No clue as to why the Imperial lugs were used. Doesn't seem to be any particular pattern. Enjoy it!

Tama RM's....Made in Japan.....Up on the restore table soon.....Also, they came with a Pearl Free floating Snare that just needs a good cleaning and polishing. Its too deep for my Taste, so I will sell The Snare in the future.....

Great Stuff Man.

Nice work saving those old drums.

BTW, The lugs you put on the Black Bass Drum are Pearl.

AND...I believe they are referred to as "Coffin" Lugs.

You know, a lot of people do not really like the "Coffins",

but Pearl made them well and the chrome is pretty good quality too.

A lot of old "Blaemires" I purchased came with "coffins".

I kept the coffin lugs on those drums.

I kind of like them now.

Some orphans I'm going to be experimenting with.......They are the highly sought after "Super Rare" Philippine Mahogany !!! LOL....as well as other wretched implements of destruction that will probably be experimented on or stripped for parts....
