Exact Model Name of 1959-60 Radio King

Loading...

Continuing to make use of my new membership to this great site....

I have not, with your help, identified my snare as a 1959-60 Radio King. It is 5.5 x 14, has clam shell strainer and single ply shell, black and brass, Chicago badge (no loop on bottom of "S"). My question is, in reading the Slingerland Book, it says that Slingerland stopped using the Radio King name after 1957 and called the snares Gene Krupa Super Snare...which came in 5.5 x 14.

So, is that the model that I have or is there really a Radio King during this period?

Thanks very much for all your assistance.

This has been a well discussed point amongst collectors and Slingerland fenatics. Technically the drum is the same, but Slingerland just named it differently. Is it a Radio King - Yes.

Is it a Super Gene Krupa Snare Drum - Yes

This is just marketing and a name change, the drum itself is the same.
