Just ordered a 12 & 14, I'll be curious to see how they compare to Remo's SKYNTONE, my current favorite of this head type.

I've heard that they are closer to a Remo Fiberskyn than anything else.

I gotta say though that nothing beats the sound of real calfskin heads though. All the simulated ones that the major manufacturers make come kind of close, but there is a difference. Are they expensive? Yes. Are they worth it? Absolutely yes! Cool1

I have a 14" ordered for my C&C Player Date II snare. Should have it within a week or so. I also believe it is closer to the Fiberskyn diplomat head (10ish mil) or Fiberskyn ambassador (12ish mil). The Skyntones are close to a true diplomat weight (7.5 mil). I heard the first round of Calftones will be closer to the 12 mil weight with a 7ish mil possibly coming out later.

I've been very excited for this release and I can't wait to try them out!

I cancelled my Calftones order after multiple people said they're almost exactly like Fiberskyns. I went with a very expensive order of ASPR LCs instead, and I'm super glad I did:

I'm not ready to write them off as Fiberskyns until I try them. Evans claims they are "completely" different than any other head on the market. I'm not ready to accept that either. So, I will try one or two and see how I feel about them.

I'm very interested to hear your take when you get them.

G1 coated or clear for tom resonant. Hazy 300 or 200 for snare resonant.

Just for reference, I play a lot of light jazz or ambiance rock type music. I tend to tune a little higher but I do like a nice boom sound too.

I will report back as soon as I get mine set up.
