Estimated Value for 50's Radio King Snare

Loading...

Hi All:

Recently picked up a 1950's Radio King 5 1/2" x 14" snare....here are the particulars:

- 1950's

- Black & Brass Chicago Oval

- Wood, single ply shell

- 8 lug

- Red Glass Glitter original wrap

- Clam Shell Strainer

- Stick saver hoops

Condition is all original, near mint wrap, no marks or scratches, tight seam. Hardware is excellent condition.

Two questions:

- Any idea what the value of this snare would be (give an idea to insurance company)?

- Is the hardware chrome or nickel plated?

Thanks very much

Those usually sell from $350 to 550 depending on condition...chrome hardware in clean condition with a working throw-off would put it at the high end. Yours could have either chrome or nickel...would have to see a photo. Radio Kings with the 3 pt. strainer usually bring in a bit more.

Thanks Rich for the reply.

To me, untrained eye, the hardware looks to be chrome...too shiney for what I imagine nickel looks like (unless brand new).

Clam shell strainer complete with handle, fully functioning, chrome pretty good, little bit of rust on butt end mount.

Wrap is original and perfect, no imperfections, scratches etc.

Here is a picture I just posted.

Based on the badge, I date this one between 1056 & 59...just don't know exactly where.

Thanks very much
