Hi there i found a good article on the history of the Staccato drums. It looks like you have the 80's re launch when ayotte took over. Yours are the canadian re-lauch the ones im after are the earlier british shells with hayman lugs etc etc. The original by pat townsend used all hayman lugs etc. Here is part of the article..
The most bizarre Drumkit that has ever been built
1977 the round lugs of the legendary british company Hayman had a comeback: the Hayman hardware relics were bought and used as a basis for a new legend. Staccato Drums - the white fiberglass drums with the revolutionary design. The new material enabled forms that seemed impossible until now.
Developed in 1976 by Pat Townshend
Staccato Drums were developed in 1976 by painter and sculptor Pat Townshend. One of his pictures should have shown a fantasy-like tangled tree. This design is said to have inspired him to design the boiler. Fiberglass was a new material, enabling all conceivable forms. Unfortunately, it was expensive - and: The large, heavy kettle overmatched the undersized 70 hardware. The extravagant kits not met the taste of the masses. A relaunch was necessary.
1982-1984 modified by Ayotte and marketed in Canada
Staccato 1982 was modified by the Drum Company Ayotte Drums and until 1984 marketed in Canada. The influence of Ray Ayotte was immediately obvious. The Staccato used even in today's kits "Tune Lock Tension System" was the first step and meant the farewell to the round Hayman lugs. It modified the lugs and took the fast closing clamps of Ayotte and changed the former floor tom. Particular attention was paid to newer, lighter fiberglass materials.
