Early 80s DW snare drum

A very early DW 6,5" Brass snare drum with Camco butt end and Camloc throw off. Notice the mixed hoops (factory original). The bottom hoop looks to be Camco. The serial number is 100164. (Not sure but according to some, the 164th drum built in DW's first year)

Thank you guys for the nice comments,...

Yes, the drum sounds amazing and tunes up easily.

I've been reading that originally, these were timbale shells and could be quite a handful to make them sound OK. I must say that I didn't experience anything abnormal about this snare. I've tried a couple of heads (Regular Ambassador, Vintage A and Coated CS). My favorite is the Coated CS. Sound-wise it sits somewhere between a 6,5" Black Beauty and a Camco COB 6,5" I have. A great allround 6,5" brass snare drum.

The finish was rough when I got it. It cleaned up quite nicely but some of the pitting won't go away.

Orangemi,... do you have the same one,... if so, please post some pictures if you will.

Regards
