Early 80's 6.5x14 Tama Imperialstar Mastercraft snare drum

Loading...

Hi,

Just joined, on a quest to find an early 80's 6.5x14 Tama Imperialstar Mastercraft snare drum. I was a sideman for 22 yrs but got out of the business in '02. In 1980 I bought a Rogers 5 pc maple set (which I still have) and around that time I also got the above mentioned snare. At the very end of my career (like the last week) the drum took a 6ft nose dive off a stage. I was sick... Tried to have it fixed, but not going to happen. I really miss that drum. If anybody has one and would like to part with it, I will make it worth your while...

Thank you for your time folks,

Thanks! I forgot to add it is a steel shell I'm looking for...

Also I have a question. Is a Tama Imperialstar powerline the same drum minus the roller strainer as the mastercraft?

Welcome to the forum and yes the steel shell is the same.If you can't find the snare you're looking for here;they pop up on ebay on a regular basis. You could also try the Tama forum.Lots of Tama junkies there also.Good luck.

Just gigged my 6.5" steel shelled Imperialstar a few weeks ago at a big outdoor show. Man, that drum has some balls - cracks like thunder yet is surprisingly articulate. Built like a tank, weighing in at a hefty 12 lbs, this is not a drum for the faint of heart!

Bowing You rock Rocket Man!!!

Wish I was still gigging, I really miss playing these days (play every other Mon though with a guitar player friend of mine)... As I stated earlier I had this drum my entire career. It sounded so good. It was extremely versatile. Since I was a sideman I encountered many different styles of music and this drum handled them all. I NEVER needed another drum! Weather hi or low in pitch this snare handled it all!!!!

Can't wait to get my hands on this drum. I just bought a Gretsch Renown '57, a Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Pedal, and a 22" Swish Knocker so I'm jonesin' to to try 'em all out!!! Keep on Pl
