Early 60's Trixon kit

From Ganders

You have a wealth of knowledge mate ;) quite enjoying finding out all this info. As retrosonic said the old guy did play with many bands at the BBC! Will take some good pictures of everything the weekend and post them on here to see what you think. Opened the stick packet last night and it's got the old skin leaflet folded up inside (see pic). The snare case is actually premier... wiped the dust off the badge doh! Posted a couple of pics of the pedal as requested aswell

Nice!

Can you please take a pic of the sticker (with all the writing on it) facing outwards,so we can read it?

Thanks

Here's a few more pics of the bass drum showing central fixing with some damper turners to tighten the foam against the skins inside and a cymbal fixing off to the side. All mounts definately say Trixon? I'll take a pic of the sticker on the footpedal tonight and post that up. Pedal does have some really nice detail on the rubber, hi-hat stand is the same ;)

Sorry all the pictures aren't great... it's dark when I get home from work now ;(

Lovely set!

I have a set of Luxus, which have tear drop lugs. They're re-wrapped by myself though, so have lost value. They look nice though!

I suggest sending a few pics to Ingo at Trixondrums.de - he's a serious Trixon man! He hosts pics of people's kits on the site too!

(Mine's right at the bottom of the 'drumsets' page in the special arrangements section btw!)

Thanks for the info diamond.... footpedal does have the same rubber details, likewise the hi-hat stand. Sorry no more pics yet, weekend was manic!

the pedal, being a TF3 , means it has an internal leaf spring situated between the 2 knurled chrome knobs that sit astride the rocker shaft. this spring is the weak point in the pedal-----otherwise, they are excellent pedals, fast and smooth. Ingo,of the Trixon website, in Germany(just google Trixon) does have some of these springs and if you plan on using this pedal, you might nab one as a spare, because they do break.

Trixon, over the years ,had 9 different pedals-----7 models and 2 model adaptions. The TF3, being one of the most elegant and functional of the standard pedals, only lasted in the catalogue for a while due to its spring problem, I guess. It was superceded, by a very similar design but with a somewhat standard ,external coil spring.

Oh well... I have been told by the lady in doors that it must go as i'm just not using it, have too many toys! :( Poor thing is just sitting in the garage, so last weekend gave it a dust off and set it up for some better pictures.

Think I'll ebay it in the next couple of weeks unless I get any good offers. Do you think it's best to sell the Super Zyn's separate or keep the whole lot together?

Hopefully these links will work?

I would sell the kit as a drum kit with all the hardware. Post pictures with the cymbals but point out that it is a late 50's set of Super Zyns and they are NOT included in the buying price but are available as a separate purchase or will be listed in the future. It is important to note that the drums are from the post 1963 production( they should have a 6 digit number stamped inside ----the last two digits will indicate the year they were made) and therefore take standard inch sized heads. You should measure the drums just to be sure. Trixon made some strange drums around the time that they were transitting from the teardrop metric drums to the tank lug inch drums. There are teardrop inch drums( I have a kit) and surprisingly there are tank lug , metric drums------and kits came out with mixed sizing!!! good luck. If you were in Canada, I would buy the kit but the shipping from the U.K. is stratospheric ,now.Good old Parcel Farce!-----or should that be Parcel Fleece?
