Early 60's Club Date

Loading...

Picked up a players grade Early 60's 20" Blue Sparkle Club Date. I want to rewrap in Green Sparkle. Does anyone know if there are aftermarket tension rods that would work? Not looking spend $$$$ on restoring, I want to use it. I also have an Ebay bid for 7 lugs. Looking for one more.

Also willing to trade the blue for a green if there's any interest out there.

Thanks...

Of course, there are aftermarket tension rods that will work. Take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to measure the size of tension rod you need. Then use the magic search engines on your computer to type in the search for bass drum tension rods. I think that within five minutes you will find many options of appropriate tension rods. Just a guess that Gibralter offers them.

There are probably several people on this forum who can supply a replacement lug and the t-rods. Good luck.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Thank you Leeybdp. I assumed as much, just wanted to reduce and narrow my search. I've come to learn that "magic" search engine can produce many unneeded choices. I wouldn't mind using original Ludwig rods, just don't have the $$ that they seem to command. That said, anyone out there have what I need? Or is this question better suited for the Wanted Thread? Thanks!

Drumfactorydirect.com will have what you need. If you need Ludwig specific parts then Drumsonsale.com is the place to go.

Not sure what length you need but here's some examples...

Hm, is the current blue sparkle wrap the original wrap? I don't like messing with history :)

Drum lugs are measured from the bottom of the head to the end of the threads so keep that in mind when looking for what size you need. Drumfactorydirect.com is a great company so I would recommend them as well.

I agree with this especially if the wrap still looks good (or will after a nice cleaning). It also may be tough to get that original wrap off as they put that stuff on pretty good back in the 60's. Green sparkle will definitely look nice but anytime an original vintage drum is altered from it's original state, it will grossly affect the value. Just some things to keep in mind.
