The WFL section of the Cook Ludwig book states that the New Swingster Dance snare ran from 1953-55 at 5.5x14. This is in line with your snare. Why the doubts? Ludwig has been known to use a different part here and there. I think you were correct in your New Swingster Dance snare call.

p.s.

You didn't post enough pics.:)

Thank you for your reply. That is much appreciated.

I guess the only reason I questioned the call of "Swingster Dance" is the

badge. According to the information published on Vintagedrumguide.com - this pre- serial badge was used on shells manufactured from 1948 to 1952.

Last one under WFL at the following link ...

Even though the "Swinster Dance" model didn't show up in any catalog until 1953 is it safe to assume that the shell part of the drum was manufactured sometime between 1948 and 1952 - as the badge would indicate ?

Let me know. Thanks again.

Here is a time line of the 8 lug wood models from Ludwig.

Of course badge dates are just estimates. There are a host of Ludwig anomalies and cross over drums with parts as mentioned.
