I think both of you guys might have sets post war. Probobly 1946-ish. I think most WFL drums pre-war had the lugs line up straight up. They might have even used large zephyr lugs to cover the whole tom like on a snare drum. It seems like from what I have seen that the offset lugs started when WFL was making the victorious snare drums during WWII. After the war ended WFL used the zephyr lugs for about a year or so and then introduced the classic lug. They seemed to keep the offset lug thing going until they made classic lug drums.
What makes you think your bass drum is also WFL? It really looks like a slingerland to me but I can't really tell from the pic. Most WFL's I have seen are either a duco finish, white finish or white or black pearl. The sparkles are pretty rare so that is a cool set. Is it silver or gold faded out?
I just traded this 1946 wfl set for a mod orange element se brand new. I didn't mind letting it go because I have a 1941 set in the deluxe marble finish. That is a rare set. if i could only find a floor tom!
