Early 20th century British marching snare

Loading...

Does anybody know anything about old British drums?

I have restored several old drums before, and I just picked up an old marching snare that came from England. I believe it is early 20th century. It has a brass shell, wooden rims, and aside from needing cleaning, was in surprisingly good shape. I tried gently removing the heads. Neither would budge so I gave them a bit of lanolin but otherwise left them alone. Both are intact.

I cannot find a manufacturer and there is no badge over the sound hole. I peered inside and didn't notice any identifying marks. Dimensions are ~ 14.5" x 8"

Any clues?
