Dyna-Sonic Reissue Up Close

Loading...

Hi Magnus,

Apologies for tardy reply as I just returned from an out of town trip.

My Dyna-Sonic weighs in at 3903g. The box (with all the packing material and swag) weighs 1333g and measures approximately 43.5 x 43.5 x 27 cm.

As to packing quality, the box is heavy-grade cardboard and the drum seems well protected. I bought a Yamaha snare many years (decades?) ago (still have the box) and the Rogers drum was similarly packed. I believe Rogers are distributed in Canada out of Vancouver, so mine went from place of manufacture in the US to place of distribution in Canada to retailer in Ottawa Ontario and back to me on the west coast. It easily travelled 10,000 km before it got into my hands and arrived in perfect condition. Based on that, I'd say odds are very good that it would survive an overseas journey.

Best of luck!

Hi rstange,

And many thanks for the detailed and very helpful reply. I am looking into shipping a drum from the US, but there is also a drumstore in the UK that will be selling the reissue Dynas, so that will perhaps be my best option.

Also, I am thinking this through thoroughly, trying to decide if a wood Dyna is really what I should get. I am after a wood snare drum primarily for jazz (think 60s-70s, hardboppish but bordering on ECM, almost). I now use a 6.5 COB Dyna a and a 6.5 Ludwig hammered bronze Supra for this.

I will keep you posted.

/Best

Magnus
