DW Hardware from the late 70's/1980's

Looking for opinions here on this one......do any of you consider the EARLY Drum Workshop hardware vintage now? Do you think there is much collector value to it yet?

I've been able to pick up some real finds lately. Recently found a near mint DW5000 chain drive with the round sprocket, an early production NOS DW5002 double pedal (and when I say NOS, it is in PERFECT condition), an early 2-leg DW5000 hi-hat, and a very early DW5000 remote cable hi-hat. All are in mint to near mint condition. And I picked them all up for a song. I'm not looking to resell them at the moment, but maybe the values of these will be on the rise to a collector in the future? Opinions?

I voted yes. Just my gut feeling. Early production items are sometimes popular throwbacks later on. Like most things there will be a day when the early DW stuff will again become the hot ticket. I always thought DW from a company standpoint was always and still is today the hot ticket items both new and good used. Perhaps to some not in vintage circles yet.....?? Interesting question.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Purchased and sold a beautiful 1981 22/16/13/12 maple finish set and a 1981 6x14 maple snare. Still have an '81 brass shelled 6.5x14. Don't seem to attract any collector interest yet, but interested me as part of Leedy/Camco history.

Never play it the same way once.

i don't consider them vintage, as vintage in general actually refers to items pre 50's nowadays. its weird when someone on ebay lists something and writes, "vintage 1990____".

anyway, i sell a decent amount of early dw promos and parts when i have'em. some items are:

- my original 5000 double pedal (the one with the 2nd housing mounted next to the main one)

- just sold a early 5000 single pedal (that looked like the ol' camco)

- lots of the tan pedal beaters. i'm down to 2 right now.

- rims floor tom cradles. i have 2 on my floors and i love them. originally by dw then sold thru gibraltar. these are hard to find and still sought after. the 15's and 18's were the first to be discontinued, then later the rest of the line. i always get them when i can. i have 2 NOS 18" right now for sale.
