What kind of L arm does the DW bracket accept? 12.7mm (1/2")?

If so, what you could do as an alternative is DW sells L-arms that have a 12.7 mm horizontal part, with the vertical part either in 9.5 mm (3/8"), 10.5 mm or 12.7 mm. They come in packs of two. You could use the 12.7 mm to 9.5 mm arm, mount the horizontal 12.7 mm part of the L in your bracket, and then use a Gibraltar top section to go on the 9.5 mm vertical part. The only drawback I can see is that it won't go very high, because the DW L-arms are pretty short, but if you don't need it to go very high, that should work.

I appreciate this unique, creative approach. If I can source those particular parts then good, otherwise I may need to bite the bullet and just buy a true DW set, use the L arm, try to sell the DW BD mount to someone on eBay.

Do you just need the l-arm part, or the whole l-arm and the cymbal mount (minus the bass drum mount)?

As mentioned above, you'll probably need to buy the whole set-up to get what you need.

The only reason I have an l-arm is I bought some accessory mounts to make an old bass drum into a coffee table in my drum room.
