DW (again)@ Country Music awards

Did anyone check out the Country Music awards last night? I wish they would put the camra more on the drummers, from what I could see saw 4 DW kits one Craviotto (that was sweet) a couple of things I did notice that was interesting, I saw 2 drummers playing their hi hat in the middle, inbetween the 2 rack toms, I thought that was different, Not sure how that would feel. the other thing I saw which I'm seeing more and more of is the set is played flat, by that I mean all the toms are placed same as snare. I think itmay be easier to reach, but with my bad wrist I think it would take more power and attack to hit the toms that way opposed to having them on an angle. like the traditional set up. The other thing which was obvious is all the hot chicks in the audience,. they dig country music. I may have to switch gears and join a country band!!!!!!guitar3

IRT flat layout ...

It is questionable ergonomically speaking to lay the wing toms flat on level with the snare. Your arms would have to extend forward and the wrists would still be coming down at the same angle. That would kill the connective tissue and joints in a relatively short time.

IRT the show ...

I do not have TV. I would love to have seen it, though. Over the years, my brother and several friends have been on there several times (audience and support) and I have yet to see any of them. Bummer.

I think I saw one Ludwig BDP set...Faith Hills drummer?

There's so little "country" about "country music" these days...some verses sound almost like "rap". The only real country was at the end with Brad Pasley and Hank, Jr.

LOL - Methinks the chicks are more interested in 'country singers' rather than country music! Maybe just buying and wearing a western style cowboy hat will do the trick! You know, 'look the part'!

Too many great drums to list here!

Country music has become a weird rock-pop-country hybrid-but did people in 1970 say the same thing? If I make comparisons I'll sound old...

Unwatchable. Can't watch any awards shows. Goooooo Science Channel!!!!

Country music, today, has a lot of dumb lyrics. "On the pontoon"; "Drip o' honey off a money-maker"; "Rain makes corn"; Fill in the blank - it's easy. Just say dumb $hit. FAIL!!

Sorry.

PS - Prolly why I mostly listen to classical and vocal-delete jazz and prog. No dooshey words.

How do you think I'd look wearing my boots and cowboy hat and then blasting out some Hendrix?

I missed it for two reasons. I only watch 10 minutes of TV a day...if that...and it's the weather. Second, I can't stomach this stuff they call country now a days.

About the best and most popular modern day artist playing what I would call country music is Hank Williams III. Most of the rest of "country" really feels like pop rock...which is fine if that's what you are into. It's kinda like Creed singin about the farm. It's just not my bag I suppose. I'll stick with Hank Williams III.
