These were made by Henry Grossman after he sold the Rogers brand to CBS (1966-67) They should be pretty decent drums. Lugs centers are the same as Rogers Beavertails if I remember right.
You're right, the spacing is the same and they used the same Rogers shells. These are basically Rogers drums with different hardware. I believe Joe Thompson designed the lug, which was used later on the R-360 kits.
Here's a couple pictures of the interior with the tag and one set up with the 24" kick.
It is a Joe Thompson design and patent. 67-68
Not just the lugs, but the floor tom mount and L arm mount also.
Nice set-up. Seems to have an open sound. Better get it out to the next gig so we can compare it to the Brooks Mays kit.

Well, of course it does, just like any Rogers kit. The BM Rogers sounds pretty much like any nice modern kit with 6ply maple shells, sharp bearing edges and clear coated interiors. They both sound good, just in different ways. I'm a little surprised that Duplex drums are not more sought after by the Rogers guys, essentially, these are a rare piece of Rogers history. I didn't know much about them before my friend asked me to trade. Then, I looked up any information I could find and let me tell you, there's not much out there, I couldn't even find a picture of a Henry Grossman Duplex kit, other than what was in the catalog.
After inspecting the 12" tom, I could see that the quality is as good as any Rogers kit I've owned. This was a great find, maybe not in the financial sense, but in the rarity, no one else has one. I bet if I started a Duplex fan club, I'd be the only member.Walking
What an awesome kit. Sounds great too. Those lugs look like a cross between Ludwig Classic and Leedy. I know you don't get too attached to drum kits which is a good thing. I'd have a hard time letting these go, simply because of their rarity and clean condition.
I'd consider this a score.
Thanks, I'd heard that the lugs were initially designed to be the new lugs for Rogers, don't know if that's true, but it's a good story.
