Goo Gone will remove that glue residue faster than you can set up a cymbal stand..

Well , maybe not that fast, but incredibly fast just the same ;).. I use it all the time..

Strong stuff, so make sure you do it with protective gloves and eye wear..

"Goof Off" works really well and is stronger. If it's a brilliant finish, I'd probably go with Goo Gone. Yes, use gloves and have good ventilation.

Apply Goof off or any paint remover or thinner it will remove.
