Drums "Ton" Made in Serbia

Ok,this is something not to be proud too much,but...

During the 80-s,there was one atempt in Serbia for making drums.Named "ton",it was made in only one configuration, bass 18",tom 10,5",snare and floor in 13,5".Yes,that is right! The factory produced everything, hardwere and heads so when your drum head is ruined you by from them!In that time, most of drums here were Amati(Cheskoslovakian) and Tacton and trowa from former East Germany. They also had metric measurment, but later they made drums in inches,so you could put Remo on it.But this Ton was all diferent. In mean wikw, factory was clossed,so only useful peace of drum was bass drum 18",everything else you could throw in garbage!

I am postin some pocs, just to know,on first and second pic,the snare is Amati, not Ton.And on third are 2 same diameter toms!

Enjoy, and have fun

I like the looks of the red kit. The lugs look Tama/Camco-esque (MIJ?). Crazy-sized stuff and too bad.

PS - That seat(?), with the red kit, is just not right. A carpeted piece of wood is cruel and unusual punishment. You must have done quick shows, or had taken lots of breaks (jk).

Wow I would like a set of them just to have one another "off the wall" set or even a snare drum...The lugs to me more look like the "Hayman" drums made in england in the late 60s-mid 70s...Mikey

Hello again, first of all thank you for your interest. Those drums are not mine,I mean from pics,in couple of days I mill take a 18" bass drum and some better pics to look at.Those drums did have some 2 or 3 wraps and they were nice,I admit.Dont know about wodd, but grain is like in *** stencil kits from hoop to hoop, and here is a pic of plies.I don't think they made them from plies,I think they steam bent whole 7,5mm(about 0,3 inches)pliwood and put glue and some reinforcment plate from inside. But I am not shure,we will find that when bass drum come. But I think is not anykind of mahagony, probably beech, there is a lot of that tree here in Serbia

AzBill, this is not my drum, but if I met the guy on chair,I let him know what to do,hahahaha

Here are some pics of wrap, lugs and wood. The lugs are not die cast, they are made of steel on some kind of press

Have a nice day

In photo #2 the shell is a ply shell looks to be 6 or 8 ply...Photo #2 shell looks like a M.I.J. shell from the 70s most guys call it "firewood" shells but they do sound ok. On the lugs they look like "Hayman" round lugs...If you ever see a snare drum for sale let me know..Thanks Mike

Nice post!!

I didn't knew anything for today about Serbian drums!

And wrap on 1st pic is identical to soviet "EPOIMI" drums (factory in small town named Engels)

Thanks for photos!

I love all that off the wall drum stuff from Europe (East AND West!)

Some of it looks like it was made in 6th grade machine shop, but that's what makes it so cool!

I passed years ago on a Russian made kit, complete with Cyrillic writing on the hi hat foot board and bass drum foot pedal, and I am still kicking myself for that mistake!

Oh well......can't get em all,I guess

Ha-ha...!!

Maybe, it was a terrible kit which was full-copied from Preier Olympic 1967' - with red, green or grey-pearl celluloid wraps? :)

There are a numerous new kits with a new generation's hardware still stored on dusty factory's shelfs...

They even have a primitive site (but nothing replying...): http://dmits.narod.ru/ust.html
