Drumming shoes...

From Ludwig-dude

the topic is rather redundant and pointless in my opinion. Wear what you want on your feet when you play, or don't. It matters not to me.

Ay...

The original poster asked about a specific brand of shoes that he could no longer remember the name of and was asking if anyone knew which brand he was talking about.

The post was not placed in the Vintage Drum section of the forum but rather was appropriately placed in General Questions and Topics.

Since you're the third or fourth person to comment negatively on the topic, I would argue that it's you who is being rather redundant and pointless. I understand already, there are people that think this topic is not valid or is pointless or want to turn it into a technique debate, blah, blah, blah...

Sheesh...

[QUOTE=Ludwig-dude;130851]Agreed....this topic was covered once already AND very recently......the topic is rather redundant and pointless in my opinion. Wear what you want on your feet when you play, or don't. It matters not to me. Play in what the gig "requires", if there is a dress requirement, or play in what's comfortable to you, or play barefooted......

He asked a specific question about a specific shoe type he can no longer find. I don't see any problem with this.

To prevent slippage an adhesive rubber pad on the pedal solves that problem, no need for a special shoe.I'll agree this thread and the one about drumming gloves are a hoot (also seen on other forums as well). If you need special shoes or gloves to help your drumming, you may want to check your technique, delivery first then equipment (too much tension on the spring?), before going to a crutch that will hinder you from developing into a better drummer.

Another thing to prevent too much slippage is called skaters griptape. Its the grippy/sandpaper tape that skateboarders put on their boards to help their shoes grip the board. The guy im currently taking lessons from covered his enitre right hand pedal, and then just a 2" strip of it down the middle of his slave pedal. It works awesome, except it chews the crap out of your shoes.

I prefer to use the shoes I am comfortable wearing in everyday life. For me, it's usually some brand of walking shoe like Reebok Ace or something similar. But, again, that's because what feels good on my feet. I don't really have any shoe that I wear specifically for drumming.
