DrumMate (Star) in WMP

Hi everyone,

I just finished restoring my DrumMate project and like to present it here.

13 x 9, 16 x 16 and 20 x 14 plus matching 14 x 5 snare drum, all in genuine WMP wrap.

The cymbal arm was missing as well as all resonant side hoops to the toms and bass drum. The snare lever was replaced by a simple shoulder bolt which I substituted with another type of screw, looking 'as much original as possible'.

Interesting is the bass drum pedal which is equal to Tama's 1974 'Hi-Beat' model 6740, just being blank on the plate, missing the imprinting 'Star' or 'Tama'.

So I guess that this drumset comes from the time between 1972 to 1974. The hihat 'Pro Pedal' seems to be genuine as well, but I'm afraid it won't stand a session.

Thank you, drum-mates :), for your compliments! Indeed, it was a long standing wish of mine to own a drumset in WMP as well. (My wife hopes, that it was my last wish in this regard - but who knows ...? :D)

@OsakaBop: that's a cheap Remo Amba. All I do for dampening is a small pillow inside of the bass drum, placed in the middle, to touch both batter and reso head each a bit. That's all. Should say that I'm not freak concerning teasing out the best sound of it. - I put more attention to the restoring process.

On the toms are Ambas coated/clear (for resos) which give me the required sound always.

This is just my 4th set which I'll give a kick only if space at a gig will be too small for my normal drumkits with three toms and 4 to 5 cymbals around.

Very classy looking! I love a clean looking WMP kit....but then I am biased, I suppose, since my drums are the same color.
