Drum wrap adhesive alternatives ?

Has anyone had any experience with an alternate adhesive such as 3M's high-strength bond ? The 30-nf has to be ordered, and only comes in qts. or gallons....I just don't do enough of it to spend $40 on a qrt. right now. Thanks and cheers !

I use solvent based highly flammable contact adhesive all the time. It comes in pints and quarts, but I buy 3 - 5 gallon pales of it at a time for my shop.

Check hardware stores for contact adhesive in an aresol can. I use an industrial grade spray adhesive for my veneer jobs and I really like it, no mess, no brush, no roller, just spray it on! So I think there might be spray cans of it available to the general public, just read the description to see if it works on plastic and wood. Just a thought.

We use aresol can glue for light gluing. I wont last very long on a automotive headliner. We spray Weldwood contact adhesive with a paint gun. We have a couple of quart guns and a 2 gallon pot with hoses and gun.

I picked up a quart of Wilsonart International H20 from Home Depot. It's a water-based adhesive very similar to 3M 30-NF. I've had no issues with it. You'll usually find it in the paneling section.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Unfortunately, the Home Depot stores in my area have NO idea what I'm talking about.....The search continues. Now if I could just figure out how to machine off the back half of my zoomatic to clear my rim !

Poppy, thats interesting. The product I use is called con-bond, another is sta-put S200. I do not do much veneering in my cabinet business, my cabinets are made from 3/4" veneer core plywood and solid woods. Then con-bond is a product that apparently is used by other cabinet makers to adhere venners to end panels and such. Also the re-facers like it I guess. So I basically trust my wood supplier to sell me the best product for veneering. Have you heard of these products, is that what you use for "light gluing" ?

Thank you!

Go to homedepot.com and type in contact cement in the search,..the DAP $5, 3oz bottle will do for you !i Whatever the lable says on it, pay no mind, it`s commercial roofing/countertop adhesive, otherwise available with a wholesaler in 5 gallon buckets. The stuff will work very well on lanolium/drum wrap !i
