Drum-mate Anybody?

Loading...

Hi,

Just wondering if any of you have any information at all on "Drum-Mate" drums or might have even played them? I've been told that these were actually the early versions of Star/Tama. Is this true?

Yes, it is true...Any badge that has "World`s Supreme Quality" printed on it is a stencil of Star...

Cheers

Hi there,

Drm-Mate was the budget line of Star, which came up in the late 60's to early 70's and stopped at the same time as Star.

The shells were apparently the same, but Star saved costs by adding just less parts (as e.g. 6 lugs at the bass drum) to the shells.

Hardware quality of lugs/ rims/ etc.: no difference to Star.

Sound: typical vintage, not dead, but singing (if tuned corectly).

Ralf

NB: you may find still some more infos on my website.

Any idea if the company offered this particular wrap from the factory?

Any idea if the company offered this particular wrap from the factory?

Hi OS:

I haven't seen that particular wrap, but I have seen that pattern in red on a drum mate. It was an eBay orphan a couple years back. I noticed due to it being the same color / pattern as an orphan 'Gracey' I had at about the same time.

Most likely the finish is not a faded Blue Marine Pearl, but the original 'Peacock Pearl', which makes it rather rare !

Do you have the complete drumset of it - or just single drum/s? More pics, please !

I don't have any right now. I have the opportunity to purchase the snare, rack tom & floor tom.

Yep, like grantro and Ralf have mentioned, it is a Star stencil. I'm not sure if I have ever seen that particular wrap though. If I know Ralf, he is probably right about the rarity of the wrap.
