Drum ID

Hello,

Wondering if anyone could help me ID this set, as far as what year it was made, what type of model it is or whatever...I really don't know much about drums.

Got it from a friend a few years back. He said he got it from someone who bought it new in the 70's. He wasn't sure about the date though. It's a Pearl set (Even though the bass says "Ludwig"), all the original hardware and everything is here.

There are some stickers on each drum with numbering. They start with "J" then there are three digits...then there are 3 other digits if that helps. The kit sounds really good.

I believe it is a Pearl MIJ kit, judging by the lugs. Possibly 1970's era.

Let the real experts here give you the dates and special info.

Thanks, I've been calling Pearl and leaving messages but no one was there today I guess. I have a crash, ride, and hi hats (Zildjian) are likely from the 70's too.

Your set looks like a Pearl but i don't think the whole set is..The bass drum maybe a Pearl looks like a badge is on it,better photos of the inside of the shell and legs would tell me if it is a Pearl. Also the tom mount is wrong to be a Pearl if the drum was a Pearl the tom mount would be a double tube mount not the single tom mount tube. ..The mounted toms are not Pearl most likey C.B. 700 or Maxwind these are both made by Pearl but are the lower end of Pearl drums..Not sure on the floor tom better photos of the leg mounts and inside of shell. So i would say over all your set is a piece together set a mix of Pearl and C.B 700 ete made from the late 70's to mid 80's...Mikey

All of the toms say Pearl on it, as well as the bass. I believe the Tom mount says pearl on it as well. I'll double check when I get home. I'm sure about the drums being Pearl.

Those Sabian B8 cymbals are basically your garden variety, entry level cymbals. They are relatively inexpensive when bought new and their resale is next to nothing once used. They don't get much play from the guys who make money banging on drums but for a guy who just wants to jam at his house, they are as good as anything.

Yeah, I was with my friend when he got the B8's I think the whole set was like $80 or something...you get what you pay for. The Zildjians that are on there sound really nice.

Just checked. Every drum has a Pearl label on it...I suppose someone could have just put a Pearl label on any type of drum. All of the hardware also says pearl on it including the tom mounts.
