Drum head suggestions

I have a 1967 20" Slingerland bass drum and I wanted some input on what heads to get for res and batter side. I play styles stemming from rock.

Thanks in advance!

That's more of a personal choice but the first thing I always look at on a bass drum is; whether it has no muffler, a muffler or two mufflers(both heads). I'm not a big fan of stuffing pillows in bass drums , so I prefer muffled drums. If you are muffled you can choose thinner heads( cheaper) and get more damping and control and flexibility. If it is an unmuffled drum you may have to splurge for at least a batter head that has a built in muffling ring ,such as one of the Powerstrokes. Putting an ambassador or something like that on any bass drum without muffling of some kind is pretty rough and ready.

Good points my friend. I guess these Slingerland basses with sing with most any head but like you, I like the muffler in the head.
