Drum Farm

Has anyone heard from Bobby at the Drum Farm lately? The channel seems to have gone quiet and I'm hoping he's OK.

This post gave me concern about Bobby. I just emailed him to ask if he and his family are OK. I'll post about any response I may get from him.

Thanks for doing that. Hope all is well with Bobby.

I heard back from Bobby. He and his wife are well and keeping the lowest possible profile during the pandemic. He says that they venture out for groceries and doctor's appointments. His retail shop is closed to the public until the all clear is sounded. All business is conducted online or on the phone. He says that accessories and miscellaneous parts are mostly what he's been selling---the occasional drum, too.

Wheew! Glad to hear he's allright!

For a while there I was afraid that maybe he "bought the farm".

Although I've never met Bobby, I've spoken with him by telephone many times. He and I have traded drums with each other several times. I consider him to be a good virtual friend. What he seems to be lamenting a lot during the pandemic is that he has not played a gig since New Year's Eve. He said that this gig was at a nursing home, and he hopes that's not how his playing career will end. He has also stopped going to jam sessions.

Yes, thank you for checking up on him LeedyBDP. I had sent some emails along the way, but got silence. Good to know he's just laying low and now probably in the snow.

This virus is about as curious as any in my lifetime (except perhaps polio). I recently was made aware that the husband of a friend had passed away at age 69 from "complications associated with Covid-19". This was in MA in May. About two weeks after I arrived back in Jordan (01NOV), a surveyor with whom I worked with in a previous stay also passed away at the same age. He was known to be diabetic, well overweight and with heart issues but still actively working. Everyone else on the team got tested and all were negative except the driver. The driver recovered without symptoms. I gather these additional elements have major impacts on those contracting Covid. I would guess, given some of the published health issues Bobby had in his website in the past decade, that they are being extra cautious.
