Loading...

In the future .. I am using the drum bags for right now.

But I going to be looking to buy 6 hard shell drum case's later on down the road .

I am trying to really figure out what style and brand name to really buy.

I use Nomad fiber cases...They are economical and are sturdy enough for what I use them for...

Cheers

But SKB . I see and saw the price's of them . Kind of more expensive case's than Gator's right or I could be wrong . But the Nomad fiber cases.... I just don't know anything about them. Really like to get some good used ones . If that is kind of possible .

Morning!

The Nomads are manufactured about fifteen minutes from my home by a very fine gentleman, Bill. They are relatively sturdy and inexpensive. For me though, I don't like the idea of exposed rivet heads touching a valuable vintage drum. I've lined a couple in felt but, that's a pain in the butt! I ended up just wrapping my favourite ones in a pillow case. Seems to work just fine.

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.

I use Humes & Berg hard cases; some are 17 years year old and have held up well after seeing some abuse. I had a cased drum drop 6 feet onto concrete; there was no damage to the drum or the case. The only parts of the drum that touch the inside of the cases are metal so I never worried about not having liners. I've never seen scratches on the metal lugs/rims from the plastic.

I hear the skb's are nice too. The Humes & Berg hard cases are US made and I believe the SKB's are too.

I have 5 Humes & Berg Enduro cases that I'll be posting later today on the Nashville Craigslist if interested.

SKB roto-x are BY FAR the best for protecting your drums. The cardboard cases like the Econoline and Nomad cases only offer so much protection...more than bags, but less than plastic cases.

For me, I like the SKB cases because I needed cases that were stackable (and won't simply slide off of each other when wheeling them around), made of plastic (so they're more durable when being tossed around by bandmates while on tour, and also protected from the rain/puddles), and padded, but not with a foam padding that flakes off over time (Roto-X cases have a fabric lining OVER the foam to prevent the foam from flaking off). Heavy duty, and expensive, yes, but I got every single SKB case I have on the used market for about half off of the new price.
