Hi Kona!As far as logging on to this site, I haven't been experiencing any issues from any of my desktop or laptop computers. I'm on an older laptop right now.I get where you're coming from with selling of kits you never thought you'd part with. Honestly, I really don't play any more and have 6 complete kits. I'm pretty much done with packing up kits for shipping, which really only leaves selling locally on Craigslist. The kits in question are my 1970-71 Slingerland Modern Solo 2R, wrapped in original "Sparkling Purple Pearl", and my custom painted and modified 2006 Pearl Export kit. Drums need to be played and these two kits should be played! -Mark
I have problems connecting regularly. I'm outside the USA. I think I recall that Kona is too. That may have an impact. It's possible the servers see the foreign host and reject it from time to time.
Mark raised and interesting point: " I really don't play any more and have 6 complete kits."
Hate to read that anyone has stopped playing, but that's the reality for many of us. Even you guys who are professional musicians are getting hit badly with the shutdowns and all.
I had backed way off the drums themselves a couple of years ago for a number of reasons. I was down to a single kit for banging around from time to time in the shed. I'm in the same position as Mark. I haven't been in a band for five years and haven't even played with anyone else for three. But the drums are still something of interest for me as little as I play them. I can enjoy returning to what I often did as a kid, which was playing to some recorded music or just playing a few rudiments around the kit. But I relax a bit just taking a kit that has been misused and trying to bring some life back to its appearance. So I'm picking up a few right now that I won't be able to do anything with for a while but when I return I hope to have a bit of enjoyment in that effort. Prices are down now, so its seemed a good time to stack some up that can be worked on later. We'll see, but that is the plan.
The latest is this WMP kit. Or shall I say YMP (Yellow Marine Pearl). Tags are gone, but looks to be a Fullerton Holiday Starlighter from 70-71. I haven't had a 22" bass drum for a long time. Too heavy to carry to a gig for one thing. Hopefully will be enjoyable to slowly locate the parts it needs and listen to the big bass. I'll have to search back through the old posts to see what you do with extremely yellowed WMP, if anything.
I think it's a thing in me to restore. I've done many cars, too many old houses and the drums. The drums are the simplest and least expensive, so better than the other two at this juncture.
