Dowel size??

Loading...

Anyone know off hand what size dowels are needed to fill lug holes on 60's/70's Ludwig shells??

I asked Jack Lawton about using dowels, and he said I would be fine with that method, sooooo that is all I need to hear.

Hi,

Factory specs on your holes may not reflect the current shape and diameter. You are safer measuring what you've got on the bench. Dowels are cheap. I tend to buy two diameters, one for the most common holes I am filling, and another size up in case:

a) I mis measured

b) some of the holes are out of round, need to be drilled up to round and then require a bigger dowel

The second instance can happen if you had a loose fitting that "worried" the original hole.
