Doug Clifford

I was watching a 1970 concert with CCR at The Royal Albert Hall and I never realized what a great drummer Doug Clifford is. I mean I'd heard the records, but never payed much attention to his playing. It's on YouTube, great video.

Solid rock drummer, not fancy, doesn't have Buddy Rch chops, but gets the job done. Reliable player and a very nice guy. We met years ago. And BTW, loves DW drums, which isn't surprising, as he played Camco for years.

The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) in Phoenix has one of Cosmo's CCR Camco drum sets on display. The exhibit tells the story of his knocking over his cymbal stands because of the band's volume. Stage hands put circular stage weights on the top of the legs of the cymbal stands to keep them upright. It worked fine except then he was breaking the cymbals themselves. The MIM is a great place to see and learn about all sorts of wonderful drums and musical instruments. I highly recommend checking it out if you are ever in Phoenix.
