Don't see this often - BRASS Pearl President snare

Yeah - modified I suppose - is this somewhat stock though? Interesting - why would anyone ever do this to the chrome (for the look)?

Just a conversation starter........

This is the same type snare I describe in my recent "My favorite snare"posting. My chrome plating also isn't perfect, maybe not as bad as that one.My muffler and tip-throw knobs are the earlier rounded style.

Same shell I suppose? I have 4 snares with that shell (exactly - with the fine hatching) - but none of mine are brass. I have 2 8s and 2 10s. I got them really cheap, as nobody has a clue as to their value. ....oops, spilled our secret!

As for why someone would do this, yes, I think it was for the look. Who knows how bad the chrome was when they decided to do this? I think it looks kinda cool myself.

You used to see a lot of tip-switch Pearl-built snares on 3bay. They have been replaced by later 80's drums with the POS cast throw-off. Since I don't tighten my snares to 100 ft/lbs the tip switch works fine.
