Does anyone know this color???

Hello fellow MIJ fans

Today I bought this little Japanese drum kit

Two things that struck me as being unique about them

A. was the color.... sort of a chocolate brown marine pearl???

B. were the lugs ....a less detailed copy

but casted in the basic shape of a large Ludwig classic

I have seen the color only once before

it was on a orphaned 12" mij stage band style mounted drum

I was outbid for it on EBay about a year ago

I have also seen the lugs only once before

I own a 14" orange sparkle floor tom with no badge

That is nearly identical to this one pictured here

only the leg brackets are different

Does anyone know A. what the color is officially called

and B. who in the heck made these drums

They do not look like anything I have seen from Pearl Star or Hoshino ???

My cost for them was 110.00

including the orange sparkle Norma snare drum shell

and the distressed cobalt fade Pearl EXR mounted tom

The floor tom has some serious wrap issues

The orange sparkle Norma snare shell together with a matching 12" drum

given to me previously by richm makes two of the four drums needed

to own an exact copy of my very first drum set....... I need only a bass drum and a floor tom

for some reason "root beer" comes to mind...not sure if I just made the up or really heard that color named that before :)

Looks like a glass of root beer with ice

Have you considered the possibility that they are KENT? I am sure you are familiar with the Kent lugs. If they have no lines, they could be Kents (older generation) - and indeed could be some downright Great drums. Kent enthusiasts REALLY love their Kents.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

OMG are you serious? I am so sorry - (being dead serious here) I flipped a Norma - same color, with a bunch of original hardware, orginal heads, etc.----flipped it about 5 years ago. However, the one I flipped had the thicker shells and IIRC they had gray interiors. I do recall that the Norma snare strainer setup really sucked, but I really dug those stick saver hoops.

Hello and Thanks for the responses

Hey Dan ...yes indeed I really like the color

too bad the floor tom is in such poor condition "wrap wise"

Hello ardrummer I was thinking along the lines

of "root beer something as well"

and yes it does look like root beer with ice

Hello latzanimal

yes I could likely use that drum

I think it may be a much closer match than I may be apt to find elsewhere

John, I have a few partial Kent drum kits

and yes the Kent lugs are shaped like Ludwig classics as well

but are a little smaller (closer to mini classics but just a tad chunkier)

these lugs are not those and are just about the same size

as the large Ludwig classics

That figures on The Norma drums pal

This makes only about the third time

I have "just missed" a deal on some orange sparkle Norma drums

be it a whole kit or a partial

Last time was a girl near Boston who had a partial orange sparkle Decca

bass, ride tom and snare, w/a like new 16"orange sparkle Norma floor tom

Had they have been all Norma shells I would have popped on them

understandably she did not want to separate the floor tom

from her three Decca shells

and since I already have three orange sparkle drum kits

I figure if I ever get a fourth it darned well better be an all Norma kit

like my 1st
