Does anyone know about this cymbal logo?

Loading...

Hello! A friend showed me a pair of cymbals he bought for $30. They are approximately 14" in diameter and appear to be stamped metal but not lathed. They had metal grommets around the holes, so I am guessing they were some kind parade band cymbals. They are quite heavy but work as hihats if that is the kind of sound you are looking for.

I have attached a photo of the imprinted logo. The color is strange because of the stage lighting where the photo was taken.

Thanks for looking!

That logo looks very similar to the old Paiste "Stambul" Crescent moon logo with the lines inside the star and moon.

It could very well be a Stambul from Paiste, but they usually had the words "Stambul" embossed on the top and Paiste at the bottom..However, yours has a logo above the star that i've never seen before.. Here's a pic from an old post on this forum..

It would help to see the cymbal itself. The crescent moon and star was used by Paiste as mentioned above, but also some Italian UFIP cymbals were stamped with similar logos. If it's bronze it's probably Italian, Brass or B8 might suggest early Paiste Dixie or Super Switzerland. I have seen this stamp before, but I'm not sure who made these cymbals. Hopefully someone will have the answer soon.
