does anybody gig with a 24"? I picked up a 1960"s Zildjian recently and am eager to use it at a gig.I know I will never get that "Shelly Mann Live at the Blackhawk" sound, but will give this a shot.WhenI get carried away,on the more lively tunes,I get this sideways look from my guitar player to lighten up.

Tell your guitar player to loosen up. ;)

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I have a 24" Dream Contact Mini-Bell. Of course this is more of a jazz cymbal, so I use it in a jazz setting. Not really different than using a 21" or 22", it's just bigger and takes up more room on the kit! Because of the type of cymbal it is, it's not really louder or deeper, just different. I dig the sound...it's something different. Carrying it around is a different story.............................

I have used a 24" Dream bliss ride. It was not very loud at all. I loved the way it sounded, but had to beat the hell out of it. I now use a 24" giant beat. It is everything you could ever want in a ride. It crashes well, and it doesn't cover up the ride sound at all. I used to be a zildjian guy, but this cymbal changed my mind. I would love to have a 20" and a 22" big beat based on the performance of the 24". As for the Dream ride.....it didn't hold up at all. I would only recommend Dream cymbals to people that only play jazz, don't hit very hard, and want to replace cymbals often.

From Major Happy Chord

Hmmm, did you break some of them? If you had to "beat the hell out of" the 24" Dream Bliss....maybe you were using the wrong cymbal for the application. Flat rides are not meant to be played loudly and bashed on.

I play thin Dream Bliss crashes in my rock band (thin enough to easily flex in your hands). I hit them pretty hard and have had absolutley no problems for over 3 years now. I have said this 1000 times and I'll say it again: If you choose the right cymbal for the job, mount the cymbal properly and play it with the proper technique, you should NEVER break a cymbal.

800th post!! I`ve always wanted to own a 24" ride...I`ve never played one, but sure would like to have one in my arsenal...The Zils or Sabians in this size that I come across are always so expensive...Maybe someday I`ll get lucky!!

Cheers

I gig with a 24" K Light Ride. It's my grail. I have the 22" model as well, but there's something magical about that 24"...
