Hi,

i was just curious as to just how many people gig and rehearse their vintage drums on this forum.and what style of music's mostly been played on here.

Or do you collect to keep them in pristine condition?

I gig my 1960 ludwig kit(13.16.20) 2 or 3 times a month and rehearse twice a week with it ,it's my main kit. i play in a garage/ punk/ surf band

thanks for your time!

Yes, I have gigged my 1958 Slingerlands recently, and also my 60's Gretsches. They both sound great and I wouldn't go back to gigging with DW's or the like even if you paid me! As a matter of fact, I have some DW's for sale........

I never gig the '66 Ludwig Super Classic 22/13/16 I have. It's all original and very clean - it's just too precious for me. I'd be far too worried. But I love the sound of the classic 3-ply Ludwigs so much that I scored a '64 Club Date kit on eBay and sold my (now ex-) gigging kit for big $$$ (while the Club Date was priced fabulously, for me at least). I will use this kit for gigging. It's not all original ('60s rail consolette was replaced with a '70s single-post bracket and there some minor issues..) but is in decent shape and I know it will sound terrific. BTW, I play mostly alt-rock.

Peace, Gabor

In my basement... where I routinely gig with the band "Jim's Kids" (mostly just Jim)Lame I play only my 1966 Slingerlands...

Someday I'll get a real gig... and I promise, it will be on a vintage kit!Cool

Not a Guru... just interested..

Ok Ill be honest, I will gig with an Ayotte Custom set, if I feel the Rogers are at risk for damage.

Hard cases, with bags, or touring cases, with the wrap never directly touching the foam.
