Dixie was made by Paiste in Germany. It is possible that the larger sized cymbals were made in Switzerland. The stamp should have the Paiste "star in cresent". They were made from the later 50's until perhaps the late 70's although this is unclear. They were made from NS12 which is silver in color and it is sometimes called nickel silver. It is usually 12% nickel, 24% zinc and the rest copper. It has a very bright sound with a narrow frequency spectrum - very focused sounding. Paiste gongs were made of this material also.
Cheers,
Chris.
