Hello! I have a 1965 Ludwig Pioneer snare WMP. It has been stored since the seventies in a case with a soft red liner. Between 2 of the lugs, the wrap has some pink discolored areas. I think this redness may have bled from the case. I have tried to remove this with Novus #2, but it hasn't seemed to help. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can restore this wrap?
Discolored Wrap
Yes. If you follow this guy's process you will likely get the pink out of there. No guarantees, as the color may have penetrated into a lower layer of the wrap and you would have to sand right through the wrap down to the shell, which of course is not good.
I have used this process to restore sky blue pearl to close to its original color. I have had very limited success in making yellowed WMP less yellow. It seems once it yellows, it is permanent.

Thank you! After the sanding, he polishes the wrap with a very fine rubbing compound. Is there a certain brand or type which is recommendeed?
71drums, if your drum is in pristine shape other than the discoloration in one panel you should just leave it alone. There is too high a risk of making it worse by sanding the wrap.
The drum is in pristine condition other than that one panel. Will that discoloration lower the value of the drum?
The discoloration may effect the value, but not as much as a botched attempt to fix it. Without previous experience doing this type of repair you should not try anything more aggresive than Novus #3.
